Disable iMessage

If you are switching from iOS/iPhone, ensure you disable iMessage & Facetime before removing the SIM from your old phone. Failing to complete this step will cause issues receiving texts. If you're having issues receiving texts or no longer have access to your iPhone, you will need to deregister your phone number with apple. Group texts will need to be recreated.

Turn off iMessage

  1. On your iPhone, go to Settings.
  2. Tap Messages.
  3. Set iMessage to Off.

Turn off FaceTime

  1. On your iPhone, go to Settings.
  2. Tap Facetime.
  3. Set Facetime to Off.

If you no longer have your old iPhone or already removed the SIM card, request that Apple deregister your phone number with iMessage.

iOS: Export Contacts

via iCloud (This is the fastest & easiest way)

  • Backup contacts in iCloud
  • Open Settings
  • Select your name, then iCloud
  • Find contacts under "Apps Using iCloud" and ensure it is toggled on.
  • If asked, Merge with Existing Local Contacts
  • Using a computer, navigate to icloud.com & sign in with the associated Apple ID
  • Select Contacts
  • Click the gear icon in the bottom left
  • Tap select all
  • Export to vCard

Export individually via share contacts (One contact at a time)

  • Open the Contacts app on your iPhone
  • Press a contact you would like to share
  • Share Contact
  • Save to Files or Email to yourself
